CHENNAI:
The Tamil film playback industry seems to be in safe hands, if one were to go by the show put up by `Madhu's Little Masters' orchestra on Sunday.
About 30 children in the 3 to 15 age group performed with great zeal and confidence during the three-hour-long show.
Illayaraja's composition `Janani... Janani' never fails to give a grand beginning to any show, and not surprisingly, it was chosen as the opening piece in this concert too.
The children performed current and yesteryear hits with equal ease. The audience enjoyed both thoroughly.
When children performed challenging numbers such as K.B. Sundarambal's `Pazham nee appa...' and S.P. Balasubramaniam's magical `Sangeetha jadi mullai...' the audience encouraged them with thunderous applause.
Complicated drumbeats and background scores did not intimidate the young performers. They were simply having fun on stage, swaying to the melody and tapping their feet in synchronisation to the rhythm.
M.K. Thiagaraja Bagavathar's `Krishna Mukunda Murarae...', `Ammavum neeye...' from Kalathur Kannamma, and the more recent `Devuda... Devuda...' from Chandramukhi were also performed.
