HEALTH CHECK: Mayor M. Subramanian distributes medicines at a health camp for flood-affected persons in D'Costa Road, Pulianthope, on Monday.
CHENNAI : The Chennai Corporation has launched mobile health camps to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases. Each zone of the corporation will have a medical team making rounds between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Teams deputed
Three teams have been deputed exclusively for zone 3 Pulianthope, the worst-affected by the rains. Field health workers will screen patients and distribute medicines. After water is pumped out from the flooded streets, bleaching powder will be sprinkled as disinfectant. Mayor M. Subramanian inspected the functioning of a health camp in Pulianthope on Monday. He also visited a relief camp set up in the Corporation school in Moorthinganagar in Vyasarpadi. Mr. Subramanian, accompanied by Corporation Joint Commissioner (Works) A. Nedunchezhian, visited flood-affected areas in Saidapet, the Ganesapuram subway in Vyasarpadi, Annai Indra Gandhi Nagar, Udhayam Nagar and LIC Nagar Extension in East Velachery and Nehru Nagar in West Velachery. Former State Minister Indrakumari donated 100 bags of rice to the Chennai Corporation for distribution in cooking centres.
