Insurance scheme for diabetics launched

HYDERABAD: ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, a private sector insurance company, has announced the launch of "diabetes care", a first of its kind critical illness insurance, for people with type-2 diabetes.

The product involving term of five years offers three packages of sum assured - Rs. 3 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh.

The premium comes in different options depending on the age of the applicant. "For instance, for an assured sum of Rs. 3 lakh, the premium varies from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 27,000 per annum depending on the age," ICICI Prudential executive vice president Anita Pai said.

Addressing a press meet on Monday, she said the product support system involved annual check-ups and consultations, home collection of samples for blood tests and helplines to access resources.
