Students celebrate Deepavali with members of Spastic Society
Staff Reporter
Members of the Interact Club (the youth wing of the Rotary Club of Meenambakkam) of Alpha Matriculation in the city visited the Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu on Deepavali day. The students distributed sweets and celebrated the festival of lights with the members of the Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu . It was a very special Deepavali for all of us, said the students.
Several students have sent letters giving positive and encouraging feedback on the `Newspaper in Education' programme. P. Suresh Krishnan, who studies in the ninth standard, says he was fascinated about the processes involved in newspaper production, such as the collection of news and its presentation.
It gave us an opportunity to realise how newspapers could help in enhancing one's vocabulary, says S. Gopalakrishnan.
Since the programme also features sessions on public speaking and communication skills, students and teachers say the exercise is very useful.
