Congress joins issue with Natwar

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday joined issue with the former External Affairs Minister, K. Natwar Singh, for levelling charges against party president Sonia Gandhi.

The party said while it did not want to respond, it could understand Mr. Singh's "frustration and desperation" at the findings of a high-level inquiry authority such as the Justice R.S. Pathak Committee. Party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said Mr. Singh was needlessly offended by the use of the word "betrayed."
