Pavements needed

The decision of the authorities to widen M.G. Road in the city is appreciable. Perhaps, Thiruvananthapuram is the one and only capital city in India where the main road has no footpath.

The condition of the road from Palayam to Overbridge junction is poor. Speeding vehicles often pose a great threat to the life of the public.

Road widening is on at many places here. It is surprising that the authorities have ignored M.G. Road all these years. The arterial road should be widened on a priority basis. People waiting for buses in front of the CTO after office hours are at a risk of being run over by the vehicles during rush hour. Some of the buildings on M.G. Road have been constructed in violation of the rules, especially at the Overbridge and Pulimood junctions. How did the authorities sanction the construction of the buildings without anticipating the need for widening the roads?

Time schedule

Of late too many buses have been halting at the Ayurveda College junction at the same time. The KSRTC buses sometimes do not stop here inconveniencing the commuters. The authorities should draw up a schedule to ensure that many buses do not arrive at a time.

Repair road

A portion of the road in front of the ticket reservation counter of the KSRTC bus stand at Thampanoor is in a dilapidated condition. Dirty water splashes onto the passengers. The KSRTC authorities should take urgent steps to fill the potholes.
