`Indian culture fosters amity among religions'

Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said here on Saturday that there was a need to put in combined efforts to contain terrorist activities which were on the rise and threatening peace and communal amity.

Replying to the felicitations offered to him by the Christian community at the Sacred Heart Church, Mr. Yediyurappa said Indian culture fostered mutual love and trust between communities and promoted communal peace.

He said Christianity which stood for peace and co-existence had contributed several outstanding persons who worked for the development of the country.

Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy was felicitated on the occasion.

Rev. S.R. Peter, Rev. V.C. George and Rev. Stany D'Souza honoured the Ministers.
