NEW DELHI: A minor fire broke out at a McDonald's outlet opposite Shivaji Stadium bus station in the busy Connaught Place area on Saturday morning. Though no injuries were reported, food particles, vegetables and other cooking material were destroyed in the blaze that broke out in a storeroom. According to the Fire Department, four fire tenders were rushed to the popular fast food outlet after a Police Control Room van received a call about smoke billowing out of the restaurant at about 10.30 a.m. Fire-fighters had a tough time identifying the exact spot of the fire as the building did not have a proper approach. "At least five fire-fighters wearing oxygen masks entered the smoke-filled restaurant and located the source of the fire in a storeroom used to stack raw material to make burgers. We had to be extra cautious in preventing the fire from spreading as a high power diesel generator was installed near the storeroom,'' added a fire official. In a statement in the evening, McDonald's said that "all occupants at the fast food outlet were safely evacuated.''
