Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in parts of Ayapakkam, Foreshore Estate and Medavakkam on Friday. It will be suspended in parts of Muthialpet and JJ Nagar West on Saturday.

Draft directory

The draft copy of the forthcoming supplementary directory of the erstwhile Chengalpattu SSA of BSNL, with the name, telephone number and address of the customers, who have obtained new connections or shifted residence between July 1, 2004, and July 31, 2006, will be on display at their respective exchanges. They will be on display on working days from this Saturday to the next. Customers requiring corrections can get correction slips available at the exchanges.

German language course

Max Mueller Bhavan will be offering a six-week `super-intensive' programme on the German language for beginners commencing Monday. Classes will be held between 8 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. till December 7. Registration is open to students above 16 years of age and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis on Sunday between 9 a.m. and noon. Call 2833 2343/2833 1314 for details.

Evaluation programme

The AIKYA School for Special Children will be holding an evaluation programme for children with autism, attention deficit and hyperactivity (ADHD), learning disabilities and speech problems. Interactive meeting

The Dignity Foundation will be organising an interactive meeting for senior citizens at the Automobile Association of India at 187, Anna Salai, on Friday between 5 and 7 p.m. on `Alcohol Abuse among Senior Citizens'. Free eye camp

Volunteers of SMILE helped the Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple in Mylapore in hundial counting. They conducted a free eye camp where 122 persons were screened. Free spectacles were given to 15 persons and 14 persons referred for cataract surgery at Mannady.

Civil services coaching

The Excell Career institute will be organising a meeting of civil services aspirants on Sunday at the LLA Building on 735, Anna Salai. It will commence coaching for the civil services examinations on Wednesday. Regular, weekend, online and postal coaching will be available. Contact: 98840 71046.
