NEDUMBASSERY: Union Minister for Small-Scale Industries and Agro & Rural Industries Mahavir Prasad on Thursday said that 25 clusters under a national promotional scheme of small-scale and traditional industries would be allotted across the country. Talking to journalists at the Cochin International Airport, he said these clusters were meant for infrastructure development, training and Research & Development of the small-scale and traditional industries. The centre would provide Rs.1 crore to each cluster. Mr. Prasad said of these, four clusters would be in the State. Besides this, a Rs. 50-crore cluster would be allotted in Alappuzha for the development of the coir-related industries, where 16 different coir processing activities would be carried out. Another Rs.1 crore-cluster for paddy would be allotted in Kalady, the Minister said.
