Congratulations!

As a student, I always found Orhan Pamuk's works difficult to understand on first reading. But when I read them again, I found them interesting and thought provoking. In fact, it was his book The White Castle that inspired me to embark on the exercise of re-reading. He says: "You cannot embark on life, that one-off couch ride, once again when it is over, but if you have a book in your hand, no matter how complex or difficult to understand that book may be, when you have finished it, you can, if you wish, go back to the beginning, read it again, and thus understand that which is difficult and, with it, understand life as well."

True to these words, his works have always been rewarding in the sense that they bring a wave of change to your outlook on life in general, and the changing patterns of life in Turkey. Congratulations to one of the most brilliant and effective writers of our times on winning the Nobel Prize in Literature.
