HYDERABAD: Convicts in Cherlapally jail, who completed seven-year term, on Saturday appealed to the State Government not to delay their release in the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court verdict setting aside clemency granted to Gouru Venkat Reddy. The Government generally releases prisoners who complete jail term of more than seven years based on some norms like conduct of the prisoners, on the eve of State Formation Day on November 1. Worried that the apex court order may cast a shadow on their release, these prisoners hoping to get remission submitted a petition to the Jail Superintendent G. Jayavardhan Rao on Saturday. Stating that Reddy's case cannot be equated with theirs, they appealed to the Government to constitute an all-party committee to review the matter.
