Country not safe in Congress hands: Rajnath

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party national president Rajnath Singh on Saturday charged that the country was not safe in the hands of the United Progress Alliance Government led by the Congress at the Centre and it faced a grave threat to its internal security.

Addressing party workers after inaugurating a two-day training programme of the BJP Yuva Morcha here, Mr. Singh alleged that the Congress was trying to hatch a conspiracy to grant clemency to Mohammad Afzal, prime accused in the Parliament attack case, sentenced to death.

Terming Afzal a traitor, he said the `double standards' of the Congress now stood exposed as it was `clandestinely' trying to seek forgiveness for a person who was hand in glove with the terrorists who attacked Parliament.
