Dindigul: Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), Chennai lifted the SKC's Trust Trophy with a solitary-goal win over Crescent Matriculation HSS, Chennai in the final of the 11th annual State-level inter-school football tournament organised by the St. Mary's HSS Old Boys' Association and Dindigul District Football Association at Dindigul on Wednesday. Crescent MHSS was awarded the Arasan Real Estate Trophy. The results (final): SDAT, Chennai 1 (Venkatesan) bt Crescent MHSS, Chennai 0; Third place: NLC HSS, Neyveli 5 bt American College HSS 2 (via tiebreaker, full time 1-1). Semifinals: SDAT 5 bt NLC HSS 2, (via tiebreaker, full time 2-2); Crescent HSS 2 bt American College HSS 1. Special Awards: Player of the tournament: Venkatesh (SDAT); Goalkeeper: Sathyanarayan (St. Mary's, Dindigul).
S.T. Hindu College wins
S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil, beat St. John's College, Palayamkottai, 25-11, 25-20 in the inaugural match of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate men's volleyball tournament organised by the Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College at Pillayarpuram near Nagercoil on Wednesday. Other results: Sathakathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai bt Nesamani Memorial Christian College, Marthandam 25-18, 25-17; Vivekananda College, Agatheeswaram bt Bishop Caldwell College, Tuticorin 25-7, 25-21.
Alagappa lifts title
Alagappa University College of Physical Education, Karaikudi, lifted the Dr. Sivaramakrishnan Trophy defeating Raja Duraisingam Government Arts College, Sivagangai, by eight wickets in the final of the Alagappa University inter-collegiate cricket tournament at Bhavangar Stadium, Karaikudi, on Wednesday. The scores: RDGA College, Sivagangai 104 for nine in 25 overs (Thirumurugan 31 not out) lost to AUCPE, Karaikudi 105 for two in 13.5 overs.
Carrom tournament
A district-level inter-school and inter-collegiate Carrom tournament, sponsored by Arasukannan (Malaysia) and Anchor Club, will be conducted by the Madurai District Carrom Association on the eve of the golden jubilee celebrations of the association, at the Victoria Edward Hall, Madurai on October 14 and 15. DSACPE posts win
Host Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar College of Physical Education beat Kamaraj College, Tuticorin by six wickets in the inaugural match of the Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar Cup State-level invitation inter-collegiate cricket tournament at Tiruchendur on Wednesday. The scores: Kamaraj College, Tuticorin 129 for seven in 25 overs (Tirumani 55, Lingadurai three for 29) lost to DSACPE, Tiruchendur 132 for four in 21.2 overs (Vijay Nivaskar 30, Sivaji 33, Ganesh 33, Manikandan four for nine).
