Belgaum: If you are looking forward to something rare and unique in decorative flowers, you need to take time out for a day between October 13 and 15 to visit "Stylish Living" in Tilakwadi in the city, where an exhibition of "Ikebana" style of flower arrangement is being organised.

The three-day exhibition, which will showcase rare and exotic flowers, including a few from abroad, is being organised under the auspices of Ratnashri Garden Consultancy, headed by landscape designer and garden consultant Krishna G. Chavan of Belgaum, who has specialised in Chinese and Japanese styles of gardens and flower arrangements.

According to Mr. Chavan, the exhibits of various flower arrangements in traditional Indian styles, Western and the unique Ikebana that suit every occasion are bound to fascinate and impress people. For him, a flower is the best medium to express one's feelings. With floriculture industry experiencing a steep growth, educated youths can take up flower arrangements both as a hobby and part-time vocation to add to their earnings, he said.

During the exhibition, a workshop will be organised on all the three days from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on flower arrangement. Participants will be charged Rs. 200 for the crash course. The entry fee to the exhibition has been fixed at Rs. 20. Students would be given 50 per cent discount, Mr. Chavan added.
