Allege threat from anti-social elements in Chepauk

CHENNAI: A section of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party cadres on Saturday staged a protest near the Triplicane Police station on Wallajah Road on Saturday.

According to the police, the workers alleged that many in the Chepauk area were threatened by anti-social elements.

They also alleged that cases were foisted on the cadres under various IPC sections including 307 (attempt to murder) and 379 (theft). They feared that the ruling party members were planning to capture all booths in the Chepauk area on polling day (October 13).

The workers dispersed after senior police officials intervened.
