National Elders Week celebrations on

Helpage India conducted a seminar on the challenging issues of ageing

CHENNAI: HelpAge India, Chennai, conducted a seminar titled `Challenging issues of ageing' on Thursday as part of the National Elders Week celebrations, ending October 8.

Inaugurating the conference at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Egmore, S.R. Jangid, Additional Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, said the police were happy to be associated with HelpAge India.

Indrani Rajadurai, Director - Southern Region, HelpAge India,

Arthi Vivekanandhan, Counsellor, HelpAge India, and Edwin Babu, Deputy Director - Programmes, spoke. T.S. Neelavathy, Assistant Director, Office of the Special Commissioner for the Disabled, spoke on the economic and social aspects of ageing. Dr. B. Krishnaswamy of the Madras Medical College, focussed on the need for the good health of senior citizens. Dr. T.S. Kanaka, neurosurgeon, also spoke.

HelpAge India will organise a health camp for elders in Coimbatore on Sunday.
