VISAKHAPATNAM: Last year's runner-up Andhra pulled off an upset win over defending champion Tamil Nadu in a round-robin match on the first day of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (South Zone) under-19 cricket tournament at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on Thursday. India under-19 player B. Sumanth scored a fine 87 (7x4, 2x6) and propped up the Andhra innings. Though K.H. Gopinath hit a half-century (52, 7x4) Tamil Nadu fell short by 18 runs. At the Ukku Stadium, Hyderabad scored a 71-run win over Goa after the Duckworth/Lewis method was used to decide the result of the rain-hit match. Karnataka defeated Kerala by four wickets in another tie at the Port Stadium. The scores: Andhra 210 in 46 overs (B. Sumanth 83, V. Sandeep 41, N. Einstein four for 43) bt Tamil Nadu 192 in 47.5 overs (K.H. Gopinath 52). Andhra 4 points Hyderabad 173 for seven in 40 overs (Akshit Reddy 59) bt Goa 60 for seven in 20 overs (Hyderabad won on D/L method). Hyderabad 4 points Kerala 220 in 49.3 overs (Rajilal 87, Pious K. Joseph 46) lost to Karnataka 221 for six in 48.5 overs (Ganesh Satish 57, Suraj Sampath 53, Sunil Raj 45). Karnataka four points. Special Correspondent
