Tips to create an attractive advertisement



The Department of Management Studies of Thanthai Hans Roever College, Perambalur, conducted a workshop on `A new paradigm in advertisement tactics' recently.

The Director, Centre for Career Aptitude and Training, Chennai, R.K. Raj explained the need of segmentation branding and positioning before stepping in for promotional aspects. The cost and intensive reach to be taken into account as the success of advertisement lies in both the segments.

It is also necessary to consider legal and ethical aspects of an advertisement besides fulfilling the corporate social responsibility. Proper marketing research is essential in order to make the company ready for spending money on advertisements. Proper care should be taken in selecting the slogans.The Principal, R. Valluvan, inaugurated the workshop. Mr. Raj also gave some advertisement exercises to the students.

Lectures on interesting topics formed the highlight of a seminar organised under the auspices of the Department of Tamil of the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Arts and Science for Women in Perambalur recently.

A faculty member from the Department of Tamil of Bharathidasan University, A. Avis, who spoke on `Society and print media', underlined the role of journals in building up a society, with an upright principle and neutral editorial policy.

A faculty member from Raja College, Tiruvaiyaru, S. Tirugnanasambandam, imparted training in poetry. Under the auspices of the Department of Hotel Management of the Srinivasan College of Arts and Science at Perambalur, a seminar on `Garde Manger' was organised recently. Shahul Hameed from Hotel Radisson GRT, Chennai, who was the chief guest, spoke on the latest recipes. He also appealed to students to develop communication skills, which was the key to success in hospitality industry.

The Head of the Department of Hotel Management, S. Yoganand, explained the objective of the seminar.

The "Freshers' Day" was celebrated at the MNSK College of Engineering in Pudukottai district recently.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal, Hussain Mohamed, said that apart from the academic curricula, the college has been adopting a four-point strategy for placement, which included information on employment opportunities, training, awareness on placement opportunities and higher education abroad besides training for UPSC exams.

The Chairman of the college, M. Nagarajan, and the Director of the college, Gnanasambandan spoke.

Fifty first year students of Swami Dayananda College of Arts and Science at Manjakudi in Tiruvarur district, selected by the Bharathidasan University, are undergoing intensive training in personality development under the Students Service Corps, which will go on till January 2007.N. Seshadri, principal of the college, said that both the university and the management of the college were contributing Rs.100 each as a gesture to the students. He said that the Bharathidasan University Technology Park (BUTP) came forward to assist the M.Sc. (Computer Science) students to do a projectfor the final semester on the basis of performance and C.
