Training for disabled persons

The Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped, under the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, is conducting a one-year free training in various trades as well as need-based short-term training for industries, to enhance employment prospects for people with disabilities. Foundation Day

M.S. Ramaiah College of Law is celebrating its 11th foundation day. As part of the celebration, a two-day commemorative convention will be organised at the college on "Role of judiciary in transformation of social order in India" on October 5 and 6.

Elected

Karnataka Bhovi Welfare Association has elected T. Subramanya as its president and S.M. Kannaiah and M. Ramaiah as vice-presidents. M. Muniraju has been elected general secretary, M.Appaiah treasurer and R. Venkatesh, Joint Secretary.

New charity hospital

Governor T.N. Chaturvedi will inaugurate on October 6 Acharya Tulsi Jain Hospital, founded by Indrabai Sohanlal Borana Public Chairtable Trust. Sadhvi Sri Satyaprabhaji, Jain saint, will be present. The hospital run by the Borana family will provide free treatment to poor patients while others can contribute according to their capacity.

Anniversary

The second anniversary of the American Corner in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore, will be celebrated on October 6 and 7 in association with the Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Consulate General, Chennai. The inauguration on Friday will be attended by the U.S. Consul for Public Affairs Frederick J. Kaplan, Bhavan's Executive Director Mathoor Krishnamurthy and others. On October 7, R. Seetha Lakshmi, Regional Officer and Education Advisor, United States educational Foundation in India will make a presentation on Fulbright Programme and on higher education in the United States.
