Easy for St. Ignatius

NEW DELHI: Former champion St. Ignatius High School (Gumla, Jharkhand) scored its second straight win in group III league, beating Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's VM Public School, Baroda, Gujarat, 5-0 in the Subroto Cup sub-junior (under-14) tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday.

Alok Baa struck twice — in the 36th and 55th minutes, while Binod Kachhap (3rd), Sandeep Kachhap (9th) and Uttam Lakra (30th) were the other scorers.

In a group IV league match, Government Higher Secondary School, Chandigarh, defeated New Sunrise Public School, Fatehabad, 6-1. Gagandeep and Samuel scored two goals apiece. Rajveer Singh and Balhinder were the other scorers for Chandigarh school. The lone goal for Haryana was scored by Baljinder.

In an inconsequential junior (under-17) league match, Habibya School, Afghanistan, defeated St. Patrick's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Tamil Nadu 2-0. Mateen (45th) and Najaf (49th) were the scorers for the Afghanistan school.
