DHAKA: The Indian Cultural Centre here on Wednesday was attacked by a group of people. They forced their way into the building, beat up the guards and other officials and destroyed furniture and other articles. The High Commission has filed a case with police. The cultural centre had been functioning in the building since Bangladesh independence. Police said a group of "miscreants" attacked the centre.
Vandalism
But the Bharat-Bangladesh Moitry Samity, the India-Bangladesh Friendship Society has said the vandalism was by some employees of Rajuk (Rajdhani Unayan Kartipakkha), the government body for improvement of the capital. The society has termed such acts against a friendly country "unfortunate" and against diplomatic norms and practices.
