BANGALORE: Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph on Monday advised students to strive for excellence in life. Speaking at the ninth annual convocation of St. Joseph's College of Business Administration here, Mr. Cyriac Joseph told students that it was not enough if they excelled in academics. "The education that you receive here should motivate you to become good citizens," he said. Pointing out that girls usually excelled in studies at all levels, he said: "This does not mean boys are not good. I have found them to be good in practical life. They may not be good in studies, but they surely are good in becoming good professionals." Advising the students to achieve the title of "good" in their profession, the Chief Justice said: "Goodness essentially postulates sacrifice on part of a person. You can become a good person only if you are ready to sacrifice something for your fellow beings." Director of St Joseph's College of Business Administration Aveline R D'Souza said that the Karnataka Government had considered St Joseph's College as the official trainer for some of their training programmes for officials in urban development. "We have also been asked to revamp our Urban Development Department," he said.
Certificates
As many as 93 students of management who graduated from the college were awarded certificates of merit by Chancellor of University of Wisconsin, River Falls, U.S., Don Betz. In his convocation address, Mr. Betz asked the students to make their college proud by occupying top positions in various companies. Dean, Emeritus of the University of Central Oklahoma, and Globalisation Consultant for the University of Wisconsin S. Narasinga Rao and Rector of St Joseph's Institutions Terence Farias were present.
