Eight persons killed in road accidents

KARIMNAGAR: Eight persons were killed and 21 others were injured in separate road accidents on Sunday.

Three persons were killed and 18 others, including a bus driver, sustained injuries when an RTC bus rammed into a parked car and then hit another RTC bus on the outskirts of Nampalli village of Vemulawada mandal on Sunday.

According to the police, an RTC bus coming from Sircilla depot hit a parked Maruti car while trying to avoid a buffalo. However, none was injured. Meanwhile, a motorcyclist parked his vehicle and went towards the car. At that moment another RTC bus lost control while trying to avoid a scooter and rammed into the car and also hit the RTC bus. The motorcyclist P. Srinivas (40) and two persons sitting in the car — Kumaraswamy (33) and Anjaiah (35) — died on the spot.

NIZAMABAD: Three persons were killed and as many injured in a road accident on the Bheemgal-Morthad road, near Jagiryal village in Bheemgal mandal on Sunday.

Two of the victims were identified as Morthad Raju Bhai (55) and Revathi (56). Another victim was yet to be identified. The accident occurred when the autorickshaw in which the victims were travelling collided with an RTC bus while trying to overtake another autorickshaw. The auto driver fled the scene.

TIRUPATI: Two persons including a 25-year-old woman Devika were killed in a head-on collision involving a car and a Bangalore-bound APSRTC bus at Thondavada village near Tirupati.

According to the police, the accident occurred when the woman, a resident of Bairagipatteda in Tirupati was returning home from Chittoor. The 31-year-old car driver was also killed.
