Nagercoil: Tamil Nadu edged past Karnataka 4-3 in the crucial and last match of the five-team league to emerge champion with an unbeaten record in the south zone 28th sub-junior national football championship here on Sunday. Tamil Nadu finished with 10 points while Karnataka, which was the runner-up had 9 points. The winner advances to the second phase of the national championship. However, since the championship will be held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu gets an automatic berth as the host team and hence Karnataka gets that spot. The Tamil Nadu-Karnataka match was a fitting finale to the week-long tournament as both teams gave their best and was cheered by a goodly holiday crowd. The results (final league match): Tamil Nadu 4 (Aravind, Reegan, Chandrasekar 2) bt Karnataka 3 (Sanju Kumar 2, Deepak). Sports Correspondent
