Leaders being falsely implicated, says ABVP

Staff Correspondent

Holds protest demonstration

BHOPAL: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Thursday organised a protest demonstration here, saying the organisation's leaders and members were being falsely implicated in the Sabharwal murder case.

Ujjain Madhav College Professor H.S. Sabharwal was allegedly attacked and wounded by a student mob during the college union elections on August 26. He died the same day.

Two ABVP leaders were initially arrested. On Wednesday, three more activists of the outfit were arrested in Ujjain. One person was absconding, said police sources.

"Fighting for justice"

On a reported statement by senior BJP leader Sunderlal Patwa that he was acting under political influence, Himanshu told presspersons that he was only fighting for justice and wanted the culprits to be punished.

Two witnesses

He said he had produced two witnesses and would produce one more before the media.

Pointing out that he was yet to receive his father's post-mortem report, he said the case filed by him against the Madhya Pradesh Government in the Supreme Court had now been clubbed with the Lyngdoh Committee, set up to examine the issue of student body elections following the apex court order.

The case would come up for hearing in the court on Friday.
