Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
A five-member delegation of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) from Sri Lanka met National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan and senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leaders A.B. Bardhan and D. Raja on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the TNA delegation, led by R. Sampanthan, Member of Parliament, met Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed and Foreign Secretary-designate Shivshankar Menon, who was previously the High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Raja told this correspondent that the CPI wanted the TNA to strive for a political solution to the ethnic issue within the framework of a united Sri Lanka. Devolution of powers, the CPI leaders conveyed to the TNA, should be possible in a federal framework.
