LONDON: Instead of returning to his country, the ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived here from New York on Wednesday evening to join his relatives living in the United Kingdom. Mr. Shinawatra, accompanied by a group of loyal officials, was driven straight from the tarmac to his house. Journalists were not allowed access to him. The British Government was quick to distance itself from the deposed Premier, saying he was here in his private capacity. There was no special protocol when he landed at the Gatwick Airport, flying a Thai Airlines plane, which reportedly had no passenger, besides him and his entourage.
