Gold appraiser of TTD in ACB net

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: A team of Anti-Curruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday raided the residences of the TTD's gold appraiser and reportedly detected a huge haul of unaccounted property like gold ornaments, precious stones, cash, bank passbooks and incriminating documents. Sources said that the property detected did not square up with the appraiser's known sources of income.

While the exact worth of the property recovered in the raids is yet to be known in view of the searches still being in progress when reports last came in, unofficial sources peg it at around Rs.1 crore.

ACB teams from Cuddapah, Nellore and Tirupati simultaneously raided the two houses of the appraiser in Tirupati and also the house of his close relative at Chennai.

Sources said that the teams recovered a few bank passbooks also and would examine the accounts on Wednesday at the bank branches concerned.
