Thrilling win for Sri Krishna College

Coimbatore: Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science pulled off a thrilling 25-15, 22-25, 25-20 victory over Dr. NGP College of Arts and Science to enter the volleyball final of the CICAA inter-collegiate sports and games tournaments at the Maruthi College courts here on Tuesday.

Sri Krishna also entered the basketball final scoring a comfortable 55-40 victory over Amirtha.

Bharathiar wins two titles

Earlier, Bharathiar University defeated PSG Tech and Government Arts College for the kabaddi and handball titles respectively.

The results:

Handball: Final: Bharathiar University bt PSG Tech 25-13.

Kabaddi: Final: Bharathiar bt Government Arts 24-8. (Semifinals): Bharathiar bt Maruthi College 40-20; Government Arts bt Thavathiru 58-11.

Hockey: Semifinals: Maruthi 6 bt SNGC 3; Bharathiar 3 bt TNAU 1.

Basketball: Maruthi 62 bt SNMV 42; Sri Krishna CAS 55 bt Amirtha 40.

Volleyball: Bharathiar bt Amirtha 25-21, 25-14; Sri Krishna bt Dr. NGP 25-15, 22-25, 25-20. Football: Second round: Bharathiar 3 bt PSG Tech 1; CMS 2 bt TNAU 0.

At Cuddalore, Karthikeyan's seven-wicket haul helped Academy record a 98-run win over Periyar Arts College in a TNCA-CDCA first division league match here.

The scores: At Cuddalore: Academy 139 in 37 overs (Gopu 85 not out) bt Periyar Arts College 41 in 11 overs (Karthikeyan seven for 18).

Academy 131 in 33.2 overs bt Annaikuppam 85 in 19.2 overs (Malick Basha four for 23).

At Neyveli: Prasad CC 243 in 37.3 overs (Manikandan 79, Perumal 40, Chandran 40) bt NLC `A' 182 for nine in 40 overs (A. Thirumurthy 54, A. Stephen 55).
