BANGALORE: The growing number of Indian students in Australian institutions of higher education is likely to cross 80,000 by 2025, according to Henry Ledlie, director of overseas education service provider, IDP Education Australia. Mr. Henry attributed the growing interest in Australian institutions to their good infrastructure. Incidentally, Australia was the only country in the world to enact an Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act, a comprehensive national legislation governing the quality and delivery of education to foreign students, he said. IDP Education Australia, which organised an interview programme for potential students here on Sunday, was in the business of holding education exhibitions and interviews. Such programmes were held twice a year for the past 11 years in Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad and the response was encouraging from the students in India, Mr. Henry told presspersons here. The IDP programme, he said, was supported by the Australian Trade Commission, Government of Australia and the Australian Alumni Association, India. This year's event had attracted over 100 academics and representatives from 43 Australian Education institutions. He said the programme would benefit not only students seeking study options in Australia but also those interested in online and distance education programmes and studying in Australian University offshore campuses in Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia.
