Five arrested, oil recovered

BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch police have arrested five persons on the charge of pilferage of furnace oil and recovered oil, two tankers and cash.

The police gave the names of the accused as Pichandi (49), G. Palaniswamy (27), Sarathi (27), all from Tamil Nadu, Devaraj (24), resident of Harohalli near Bangalore, and Radhamma (37), resident of Sevanagar in Bangalore. According to the police, the accused in connivance with oil tanker operators, used to pilfer furnace oil while the tankers were on their way to deliver the oil. They used the furnace oil to adulterate petrol and diesel, the police added.
