Bina Ramani gets bail

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to socialite Bina Ramani in a cheating-cum-forgery case. She had allegedly forged papers to claim the ownership of Tamarind Court restaurant at Qutub Colonnade in South Delhi where model Jessica Lal was fatally shot on April 30, 1999.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau ordered her release on bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 2 lakhs with one local surety of like amount.

Ms. Lau directed Ms. Ramani to appear each Saturday of the month before the investigating officer of the case, surrender her passport and not leave the country without court permission.

A joint team of the Delhi and Goa police on September 7 arrested Ms. Ramani in Goa.
