Road improvement works sanctioned in many States

NEW DELHI:
Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu has approved road improvement works in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra.
While a sum of Rs. 128 crore has been sanctioned for 47 such works in Maharashtra, an allocation of Rs. 621.08 lakh has been sanctioned for strengthening the Dwarka-Porbandar-Somnath section of National Highway-8E in Gujarat.
An expenditure of Rs. 486.80 lakh has been approved for strengthening NH-64 in the Patiala-Sangrur-Bhatinda section in Punjab. A sum of Rs. 320.98 lakh has been provided for widening two lanes of NH-71 in Haryana.
Mr. Baalu has approved an amount of Rs. 217.41 lakh for improving NH-31 in West Bengal. Rs. 8.89 lakh has been sanctioned for engaging a consultant for a by-pass feasibility study on NH-217 at Baghbhara town in Chhattisgarh.
