AIDS campaign: best reporters for U.K. tour
Imphal:
Six journalists, awarded the ``HIV/AIDS: E.U.-India Media Awards 2005" for their excellent reportage on HIV/AIDS, will be on a week-long visit to the U.K. as part of an AIDS awareness campaign.
The Manipur Information Centre said Raj Kumar Robindro Singh of Doordarshan Kendra, Prerna Sharma of Delhi Doordarshan, Atal Sharma of AIR, Rajkot, Archana Prasad of AIR, Lucknow, Akoijam Sunita of IFP, Manipur, and Narjis Hussain of HT Media Ltd, would be in the U.K. from September 18 to 22 under the sponsorship of Thomson Foundation and the E.U.-India Media Initiative on HIV/AIDS.
The Media Awards 2005 was intended to recognise excellence in reporting HIV/AIDS in electronic and print media.
Mr. Singh received the award for his five-minute telefilm Lite Thy Light, Ms. Prerna won it for her film If only a positive depiction of reality, Ms. Sharma for the radio programme ``Listen, Learn, Live" that juxtaposes two HIV couples where one declares the disease and the other chooses to keep it a secret. Ms. Prasad won for her radio programme ``Prayas."
Ms. Sunita bagged the award for her article ``Who will keep the promise?" for an attempt to examine the role of good governance in the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Ms. Hussain got it for ``Treatment from the Right Doctor" an effort to bring out the issues regularly into the mainstream vernacular media. UNI
