KOLKATA: Kingfisher East Bengal shot to the top of the charts beating Mohammedan Sporting 4-2 in a Premier Division encounter of the Calcutta Football League here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday. The match was decided in the first half of the play which saw all the six goals coming up in an action-packed session. The scoreline was altered in the very first minute when East Bengal striker Ashim Bisaws nodded home a Syed Rahim Nabi cross. Sporting was back into the game quickly as Subhasish Roy Chowdhury scored from a corner in the third minute. East Bengal suffered the second reverse in the 12th minute as Kalia Kulothungan made good a rebounded attempt of Raman Vijayan. East Bengal found the equaliser in the 19th minute through its newly recruited Brazilian striker Marcio Tomaz, who scored from a neatly angled shot. East Bengal regained the lead in the 31st minute when Nabi found the target before Chandan Das scored from a penalty in the 45th minute to complete the scoring. East Bengal regains the league leadership with 17 points from seven matches, while Mohammedan Sporting ,remains on 15 points from eight matches.
