Kuala Lumpur: Chris Broad, match referee for the DLF Cup, has cleared up the mystery surrounding the uneven bounce seen at the Kinrara Oval on Thursday. In a statement, Broad said a "small fault in the underlying structure of the pitch identified by ICC consultant groundsman Michael Box" had been the cause of the problem. Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, and M.S. Dhoni were dismissed off deliveries that kept low, while Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar were hit on ther glove by ones that reared off a length. "The fault resulted in a small depression emerging late in the evening on the night before the match," said Broad. "The depression is short of a good length outside the off stump of the right-handed batsman when the bowler is coming on from the Pavilion End. "Ground staff immediately sought to remedy the problem but with the pitch in the final stages of preparation the hardness of the surface prevented the ground staff from completely removing the depression," said Broad.
