EMC puts up support centre in Chennai

CHENNAI:
EMC Corporation, an information management and storage company, has announced the opening of its office and a customer support and logistics centre in Chennai.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Manoj Chugh, Country Manager, EMC India and SAARC region, said "Tamil Nadu has emerged as a preferred destination for IT, telecom and manufacturing industries." The new Chennai centre would form part of EMC's $500 million investment commitment in India by 2010. The centre would help the company address the market opportunity in the State, he said.
Mr. Chugh said the company at present had four offices and four logistic and support centre in India. There were 50 partners across 30 cities in the country. EMC had recently launched the EMC Academy programme to build a pool of storage certified professionals in India. As part of this programme, EMC would tie-up, with 50 universities by the end of 2006. He hoped that the future business would be generated from verticals such as IT, ITeS, automobiles, media, banking financial services and insurance and manufacturing.
