Rain plays spoilsport

KOTTAYAM: Rain forced the abandonment of the second day's play between Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram in the South Zone inter-district U-22 cricket tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Monday.

With both the teams failing to complete its first innings, they were awarded a point apiece.

At the Medical College ground, Kottayam completed its first innings against Alappuzha by compiling a total of 207 for nine in 76 overs, after resuming at 94 for six.

However, with time running out, Alappuzha was unable to start its reply by close.

The two teams were awarded one point each.
