`Probe ORR land acquisition'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: M. Narsimha, CPI (M) legislator from Ibrahimpatnam, and the Metropolitan Area Land Losers' Union have sought a judicial enquiry by a sitting High Court judge into `illegal' measures by HUDA and APIIC in securing land of the poor for the Outer Ring Road project. In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy here on Saturday, they pleaded for justice to the losers of land. They wanted the ORR realignment to be scientific, limiting its width to 300 feet.

They suggested that priority be given to Government lands in securing land for the project and exemption to those belonging to the poor. Land for land should be given and the market rate considered while deciding the quantum of compensation, according to a statement issued by Amareswar, convener of the union.
