HYDERABAD: Three unidentified persons stabbed a financier, Syed Abid Hussain Baqri, 33, to death when he came to Krishna theatre near Gulzar Hauz in the old city on Saturday night. According to Mirchowk police, the victim went to the theatre reportedly after receiving a call on his mobile phone from one Abbu. Baqri was standing near the Rs. 5 ticket booking counter when the trio attacked him and fled on two-wheelers. Three mobile phones, one without a SIM card, were recovered from the spot.
Two fake Maoists held
The Panjagutta police on Saturday arrested two youngsters, Srinu and Venkeatesh, hailing from Karimnagar district, on the charge of attempting to extort money from a person claiming to be Maoists. The duo called up a private engineering college owner, Mohan Reddy, of road no. 2 in Banjara Hills and demanded Rs. 3 lakhs towards party fund on Friday. Police laid a trap and caught them at Panjagutta bus-stand on Saturday evening.
Dies after a fall
An Intermediate second year student, Sandeep Kumar, 18, died on Saturday after falling from the third floor of the apartment building he was living in at Alwal. According to Alwal Sub-Inspector Satish Reddy, the victim accidentally slipped from the building and ruled out the possibility of the youth committing suicide.
