Staff Reporter

ICSI takes lead by organising seminar

VISAKHAPATNAM: To familiarise company secretaries, chartered accountants, bank managers and other professionals on the various aspects of the MCA-21 project with regard to electronic forms, electronic filing (e-filing), digital signature and the pre-certification of documents, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Visakhapatnam chapter in association with the Hyderabad chapter conducted a seminar here on Wednesday.

Addressing the programme, Director (Finance) of the Dredging Corporation of India Limited Visakhapatnam, A.K. Dhar, said the greatest advantage of project MCA-21 is it would offer complete transparency to its investors.

The project had been designed to automate all processes related to the legal requirements under the Companies Act of 1956 and would help the business community to meet their obligations by e-filing of documents.

Central Council member D. Hanumantha Raju said it would help better corporate re-structuring and planning.

Interactive session

The seminar dealt with an overview on the project, filing and procedures related to the Physical Front Office, an analysis of forms under e-filing and registration of charges under e-filing.

The discussion was followed by an interactive session where participants could clear their doubts regarding the project.

Member of the Southern India Regional Council of ICSI, C. Sudhir Babu, spoke about the various teething problems associated with this venture.

"Most organisations are not yet fully equipped to make the shift to the online usage," he said.

The master data at most institutes is still not updated.

Focus on training

He also stressed on imparting training to company secretaries and conducting practical sessions at RoC (Registrar of Companies) offices.

Chairman of Visakhapatnam chapter, P. Narasinga Rao, presided over the meeting. Vice-Chairman P. Mohan Rao, member of ICSI Hyderabad chapter, V. Ahlada Rao, member of CMC Limited Hyderabad R.B. Iyengar and Manager of Facilitation centre MCA-21 in Hyderabad, Priyanka Kukreti spoke at the seminar.
