NEW DELHI: R. Rajeev clocked a career-best 1:49.56 while posting a meet record in the men's 800 metres on the concluding day of the 72nd all-India Railways athletics championships at the Nehru Stadium here on Thursday. Junior Sajeesh Joseph who came behind Rajeev also clocked a personal best of 1:50.17 providing a keen finish in the two-lap event. The old mark of 1:50.0 stood in the name of K. G. Manojlal since 1999. A. Aravind, who won the `best male athlete' award, completed the sprint double winning the 200 metres in 21.24 seconds. In the process, the Southern athlete bettered R. Gnanasekharan's 1978 mark of 21.2 seconds (hand-timed). The results: Men: 200m: 1. A. Aravind (SR) 21.24 (NMR, previous 21.2, hand-timed), 2. Vishal Sxaena (NR) 21.52, 3. B. G.
