High Court allows RWITC's appeal

The two Judge division bench of the Mumbai High High Court comprising, Justice Gokhale and Justice Devdhar allowed the appeal of Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd (RWITC) on Tuesday and upheld the decision of the Club which had suspended trainer Vinayak's licence till Oct.15. They also absolved the RWITC from all charges of malafide in trainer Vinayak's suspension case and ruled out the single Judge stay which he had sought.

Trainer Vinayak who was suspended for the vicarious liability, as his Jamadar Kalu Singh was caught red handed on the surveillance camera while diluting the urine sample of Glory after she had won the A. Geddis Plate on March 23, 2006. The Stewards had suspended trainer Vinayak for one year, but subsequently the Board Of Appeal of RWITC reduced his suspension period till Oct.15, 2006. Now his suspension remains till Oct.15, 2006.

Jockey suspended:

M. Narredu, rider of Aashirwaad in the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Trophy held here on Aug. 11, has been suspended for the period Sept. 11, 2006 to Jan. 10, 2007. The Stewards held on enquiry in connection with the running and riding of Aashirwaad and after deliberations decided to withdraw the Jockey's Licence for the above period for not permitting his mount to run on its merits.
