Thunchan Parambu to host camp for young writers

Residential camp to be led by M.T. Vasudevan Nair

TIRUR: Thunchan Parambu, the home of Malayalam's patriarch Thunchathu Ezhuthachan, is getting ready for a literary event. This time it is the State-level short story camp exclusively for budding writers of Malayalam.

The three-day residential camp from Friday is being organised jointly by the Thunchan Memorial Trust and the Kendra Sahitya Akademi. Leading the camp will be Jnanpith winner M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Storywriter Vysakhan will be the camp director. A bevy of writers and critics, including C.V. Sreeraman, Sethu, Punathil Kunhabdulla, U.A. Khader, P. Valsala and Sara Joseph, will handle sessions and take classes.

The camp will also have debates on various topics like `genres of writing,' `art in story,' and `poetry in story' etc.

Thirty-seven young writers have already been selected for the camp based on the merit of their stories. The writers attending the camp are K.V. Sreerekha, V. Sudheeshkumar (Kasargod district); K.R. Aparna, Biju K. Kunnoth, Mahesh R. Lakshmibhavan, K.P. Sivadasan (Kannur); U. Mithunraj (Wayanad); K.K. Rasnima, K. Ranjit, Shahid, K.K. Abeesh, C. Yasar Arafat, Usha K. Satyan (Kozhikode); Rasmi K. Chandrodayam, M.S. Rakeshkumar, Soumya Thekkemuringathu, B. Krishnapriya, Aji Joy Pachatt, Unni Krishnan, M. Reiju (Malappuram); M. Murukesan (Palakkad); K.J. Dagi, M.R. Vipin (Thrissur); Sudheesh, Hema E.D., Ria Joy, Manoj M., Ajils O. Jamal, M. Ambili, Sujit Prabhakar (Ernakulam); Rahulnath A.R. (Kottayam); Parvathi Kuriakose (Alappuzha); Anand Unnithan (Pathanamthitta); M. Giri, Priya Nair (Kollam); P. Smita and Sabari Nathan (Thiruvananthapuram).
