HYDERABAD: Three persons from Andhra Pradesh are among the 18 Shia pilgrims who fell to terrorists' bullets, near Karbala in Iraq, on Friday. Two of them-- Mohd Ahmed Ali and Molla Mehdi Baig-- are from Hyderabad while Syed Jafar Masiuddin hails from Jagannapeta village of Nagaram mandal in East Godavari district. They were on a visit to holy places in Iraq when terrorists struck. The group comprised 12 women and 18 men. Among the men, 15 were from Pakistan, while all the women were from Hyderabad. A pall of gloom descended on Noor Khan Bazar in the city and Ghatkesar area on the outskirts where Ahmed Ali and Mehdi Baig lived respectively as news of the tragedy trickled in. Their kith and kin could not believe that they were no more. Mehdi Baig (55), a doctor, had gone on the pilgrimage along with his wife Zehra and mother Husaini Begum while Ahmed Ali was on his own.
