Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Staff Reporter

Classes will be taught by a mix of Indian and Japanese teachers

CHENNAI: While the cultural ties between India and Japan goes a long way back, the academic bond between the two nations based on technological growth will, in future, depend on removing the language barrier between the two nations.

Many Indian students are, thus, keen on learning Japanese. Technical institutions such as Anna University and SRM Deemed University have introduced Japanese as an alternate language.

Language test

The Japan Foundation and Association of International Education of Japan, Government of Japan, is conducting a worldwide Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at four levels — with level 4 for beginners and level 1 for advanced learners. Students of class VIII to XII and colleges are eligible to appear for JLPT levels 4 and 3.

S&N Hayakawa Enterprises, Japan, an institution specialising in graded teaching of Japanese to non-Japanese learners, in association with AIMS Education, Chennai, is conducting a `Japanese Language Course' for students at the AIMS campus in Teynampet.

The classes will be on Saturdays and Sundays, and will be taught by a mix of Indian and Japanese teachers.

These students can straightaway take the level 3 exam in December 2007.

There will be 250 hours of classroom teaching and 50 test hours, beginning from the third week of September.

Before that, a free seminar on higher education and job opportunities and an expository free sample class will be held on Sunday at 8 a.m. on the AIMS campus.

Students can call 044 - 24337997 and 24359822, or S&N Hayakawa Enterprises, Chennai, at 044 - 26541118 for details.
