'Apathetic' attitude of Government criticised

NEW DELHI: Several activists representing the disability sector on Thursday threatened to walk out of the Steering Committee and working groups of the Planning Commission to register their protest against the `apathetic attitude of officialdom' to the needs of the differently abled in the process to draw up the XIth Five Year Plan.

Briefing mediapersons here, Javed Abidi of the Disabled Rights Group and member of the Steering Committee said the seven sub-groups set up to address specific issues relating to the disability sector had not met even once though the deadline for submission of reports is September 7.
