Court order on regularisation hailed

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Foundation for Fair Practices in Property Development (FAIRPRO), a non-profit organisation established by a group of property developers, has welcomed the Madras High Court order quashing the regularisation of all buildings beyond the cut-off date of February 28, 1999.

In a release on Saturday, FAIRPRO commended the court for ordering immediate demolition of all illegal commercial multi-storeyed buildings and for emphasising that there will be no compromise when it came to legal provisions on floor area ratio, fire safety and car parking.

The organisation also welcomed the decision to make the completion certificate mandatory for obtaining water and electricity connections.

FAIRPRO can be contacted over: 24322601.
