Chennai: Verification officers from the Chennai Corporation began door-to-door visits on Saturday to check if personal details and photographs of voters on electoral rolls were correct.

Corporation Commissioner M. P. Vijayakumar said that phase one of the verification process would be carried out over the next 10 days. In case, the photograph printed along with the voter's name was missing, unclear or wrong, the person could submit a passport-sized colour photograph to the verification officer, he said.

If the voter had expired or shifted residence, the verification officer would make the note on the checklist. If the new residence address was known, it would be noted. If residents had shifted their houses and wanted their personal details renewed, they could request the officer for form 8A (shift within the same constituency) or form 6 (to another constituency) and submit filled-in applications.
